Also, Adam Smith wasn’t laying out principles. His writing was descriptive, not prescriptive.
He definitely was in some cases laying out principles, with both the landlord stuff and the invisible hand being examples. My issue was more that there is no "the principle of Adam Smith" and it sounds like something a child would say, even if Smith did assert principles.
