Because there is no organized left in the west and the only avenue left for public advocacy of unmitigated left-wing ideas in the west is independent streamers doing rage bait to make a living. It’s unfortunately yet another consequence of the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Even I, a huge nerd, get tired of like, actual serious reporting and the kind of analysis I read in the Hexbear News Megathread. The vast majority of people aren't looking to apply the kind of rigor and effort necessary to be informed independently (in fact, that's impossible in general, you always have to trust someone because not every issue gets covered by multiple journalists that you can cross-verify). So in general, if you want to keep up with topics in left politics, you end up having to pick your poison with these fools.
