I think the key issue in whether to bother with rehabilitation, is "would this person be a communist, if they were sat down, forced to read all the theory, and someone explained it to them". (Yes, I know that not everyone needs to read all the theory to understand the ML positions, and that in a properly functional DOTP, not every worker needs to be a well educated theory-head party cadre, but having to read, and being expected to understand, lots of complicated theory, seems like a good and fitting mild torture for most garden variety reactionaries.) If the answer is likely or possibly yes, then sure, send them to a re-education camp. If definitely or likely no, to the wall it is.
