I think it is quite extreme to show how religious you are. Especially being so much culturally compelled, that they have to lie that they are willingly doing it or they'd be considered unpure, heretic, or a disgrace to the family.
And yes, same goes for every religion.
By dressing in islamic clothing and modesty is considered extreme to you? Are you okay?
