The Orville season 1, episode 12 "Mad Idolatry"

Written by Seth MacFarlane, directed by Brannon Braga.

Commander Grayson, Lieutenant Malloy, and Isaac take a shuttle to an area near an uncharted star to investigate a spacial anomaly. Suddenly, the anomaly becomes an entire planet and the shuttle barely lands in one piece. While exploring the surface, Grayson discovers the planet is home to primitive humanoids. Despite Union regulation to stay out of sight, she gets spotted and has to heal a little girl who cuts her head on a rock in response to being startled. Thinking nothing of it, Captain Mercer writes the infraction off just as the planet suddenly disappears. When it reappears 11 days later, 700 years have elapsed on the surface and Grayson's simple act of kindness has evolved into an entire religion in her name.

Originally released: 7 December 2017
