Doesn't mean it's nice to have gum infections though. I can also imagine they are more of a threat to baby crocodiles.

they probably shed it often where it doesnt become a large problem with like mammals. also animals that tend to eat carriorn or dead animals have unique adaptations around bacterial infections.
