i did this by loosely following this tutorial video. it's more of a work in progress cause my hands got tired but my plan is to keep making these until whittling squirrels comes easy to me.

for next time i want to make sure i follow the tutorial more closely cause i sort of watched it a few times then ran with it. i need to practice some cuts that i'm really struggling with to define the shapes more. also this poor squirrels tail turned out much too small, should be big and fluffy looking meow-tableflip

Nice job! I also like to whittle. Have you gotten one of those kits with the different kinds of cutting tools? They're cheap and they're a game changer.

Personally I like to make spoons. We have a vegetarian deer camp party every fall and my goal is to whittle a spoon before Saturday dinner so I can eat my pasty with it.

Nothing is more frustrating than spending a weekend on a project and accidentally snapping it in half or something

thanks!! i have this set of three knives with slightly different blades (one long and two shorter ones with one being thicker than the others) although i've only really used one of them so far.

and handmade spoons are so cool i definitely want to try that soon! being able to actually use it would be so rewarding i bet.

(i hope my squirrels won't snap doggirl-shock )
