I mash the stop/clear button until it makes more beeps than the microwave would have made if I let the time expire.

This is how my wife is. However, weve recently (6 months now) gotten a new microwave and i havent had to clear the time off once. There's no way shes changed her ways, so this must have a feature to clear remaining time after so long
