Proving you ultimately can't control an armed populace who are willing to take up arms against you. This all falls apart when most of the country is mass surveilled and production is automated. If only 10% of the workforce are required, it's easier to control the 10% you need by killing the other 90%, ever shrinking the population of proles until only the < 1% remain.
