Nobody should just go see something because it represents their demographic. They should support projects that represent their demographic WELL.

See Asian representation and Everything, Everywhere, All At Once as a gold standard.

I WANT Blue Beetle to be good, but the trailers make it look like a mish mash of Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Guyver.

I'd say the issue is the fear that studioheads can't distinguish good from bad representation and just see all as "media that tried to appeal fo x demographic/is about x demographic". So if it flops their takeaway would just be "people don't want media about these people" and move on
