It wasn't okay the first time around either. Anyone credulous enough to believe that obvious bullshit shouldn't have been allowed to form legal contracts for their own safety.

    I was a young teen when it happened and it just seemed ridiculous that anyone would be naïve enough to fall for the extremely obvious lies.

    I'm probably? a couple decades older than you, it's always been this way. My entire life has been Americans convincing other Americans to fuck their own country and futures for culture war bullshit, petty vengeances, and unmitigated greed on the promise that they'll get theirs too only to be left empty handed and worse off than before. Then they vote the same way again while complaining that all the problems are the same. The joke about the definition of insanity applies.
