We know this to be true because we know the US has very low production capacity for these types of missiles, and a large chunk of them have already been spent in Ukraine. Each attempt at an intercept requires 2-4 missiles to be launched, and Iran has been pounding Israel with hundreds of missiles for around a week now. The math does not work for Israel here.

I think the real ploy behind the scenes is much more akin to nuclear blackmail. I think Netanyahu is telling Trump, "we need to destroy these deeply buried enrichment sites. Either the US help us and use your bunker buster bombs, or Israel will be forced to use its nukes to take them out."
