Have you seen the vampire movie "Sinners"?
(lemmy.world)
"Few creatures of the night have captured our imagination like vampires.
What explains our enduring fascination with vampires? Is it the overtones of sexual lust, power, control? Or is it a fascination with the immortality of the undead?"
Feel free to post any vampire-related content here. I'll be posting various vampire media I enjoy just as a way of kickstarting this community but don't let that stop you from posting something else. I just wanted a place to discuss vampire movies, books, games, etc.

Yeah that's a good point, there definitely was a first half vs second half. And the action wasn't really "Marvel style". But Coogler and Jordan know how to make Marvel-style movies and I don't think that was the goal here. When I watch it again I'm gonna look more closely at the action.
i would describe the action as kinda a time sink i guess. Hateful 8 is a movie that i think is somewhat similar to Sinners in the sense there's an intense build up and action at the end. What felt better at the end of that movie is that the action was just a way to resolve things and was therefore quick and to the point. In sinners, it felt like it dragged on, while not being all that interesting to watch. I was more excited to see what would be the result of the action, who dies and who lives etc.
That's a great comparison. Another point of reference is John Carpenter's "The Thing" -- there's a scene in Sinners that echoes it. (at least I think so... when I saw The Thing as a kid it freaked me out so much I haven't been able to watch it again.)
