Wear a mask, clean in an open space, buy and use a dehumidifier, maybe slather some a new paint job on the walls, vacuum more often.

Far as I remember, white - yellow is standard variety and less harmful. Red - black though, that's when you're fucked.

It rains frequently in the area. I don't even know anyone who uses a dehumidifier.

I'll try letting more sunlight into the room.

I can second the recommendation for a dehumidifier. It's made a huge difference in preventing mould growth in my home.
