Hello new Lemmy friends!
Word on the street tells us our community is regularly making it the all page. While this is very cool news to hear, we can see how the sudden emergence of our posts in your feed might feel jarring and probably raises some questions. And also how, without knowing the backstory, our community might appear less than virtuous, so here’s a very brief introduction which hopefully will clear a few things up.
The woman we’re discussing is a body positive influencer and media personality who has gained fame and wealth by lying, manipulating, exploiting her children for content, plagiarizing BIPOC creators and blaming her BIPOC content editor for it (thereby ruining her career), among other things. Her fraudulent behavior is no different (I’d argue worse) from the likes of Jay Shetty (google him if you don’t know who he is or what he did). She’s the latest in a long line of grifting influencers who are abusing their power, taking advantage of their position and exploiting their followers. The difference is that she’s Canadian. Our laws around social media and advertising aren’t as clear (and where they are she’s disobeyed them), add to that, our mainstream media has protected her from those who’ve tried to expose her grift and silenced/intimidated anyone who’s tried to speak out.
Our Reddit sub was taken down due to reports of copyright infringement, which is unfounded and categorically untrue as no one ever tried to steal her work and pass it off as their own. The mods have made an appeal. While at first glance it may seem like we’re just “shitting on her” the sub has been more devoted to investigation and posting proof of her lies than just bitching for the sake of bitching. The reality is that she’s hurt, manipulated and let down a lot of people. She stole intellectual property and employment, caused mental distress and has repeatedly told lies to boost engagement and profit off her audience, so people are understandably upset that their voices are being silenced.
We’re grateful to have been welcomed so kindly by so many of you, and to those sticking around to watch the drama unfold, we’re glad to have you!

This broke my heart too. She probably wonders why other kids are going to preschool or daycare etc and get to be with other kids while she spends the day inside with NK or looking at the tv. Birdie’s answer didn’t convince me that she’s even going to go in the fall. What a shame. They’re failing her and it’s pathetic. I swear Birdie has been waiting for a call for Lemon to model or act and the call hasn’t come but she can’t let go of the dream so she just keeps her at home anyways to make content and hope someone notices.
The other video of lemon looking at herself in the mirror and so obviously copying her mother was also VERY sad and disturbing. Her mother is teaching her that looking in the mirror all the time and making faces and moving your body into different positions is the most important thing. All this girl learns all day is looking at yourself in the mirror and looking at a TV. What a sad life.
The desperation to post her to the internet even when she can see her posing in the mirror and asking so excitedly to go to school is awful. Exposing your children’s vulnerabilities is one thing but letting the world see that your 4 year old is mimicking an InFluEnCeR 🥴 body check in the mirror is so very sad.
And the big sighs. … what was that?! Her mother’s reaction to her non filtered reflection??
Send this child to school in the fall OMG! I missed the story. But that ENRAGES me. This little girl very clearly needs to go to school for so many reasons - most importantly that she wants to!
Ok - also. I want to be very careful with this next comment. I remember 🐦 sharing personal medical information re: 🍋 a few years back, which is appalling that you would put that on the internet about your child. Anyway, the gist of it, without fully repeating it, is that the child had a delay in one area, such things are common in young children, and they were seeking early intervention. It seemed like appropriate steps were being taken (other than telling us all about it).
But I noticed she NEVER filmed L during this time period and only took still photos, which was so odd given her usual sharing habits. And, she only starting filming her again after it seemed like the issue was resolved.
Do you think maybe 🐦 is not sending L to JK because she doesn’t want anyone else to observe her child and/ or possibly tell her that the child needs more support etc.? Is she that sinister?
I thought about that and wonder the same thing. I suspect that she also doesn’t want 🍋 to be sick all the time and put a damper on her life/travel/opportunities. I think she also thinks that she’s a fucking celebrity and that 🍋 shouldn’t be in mainstream school (which has some degree of truth). At the end of the day 🍋 is sheltered and not thriving. Her parents can well afford to put her in a private school but they’re both literal idiots. I also agree with another member here that shitbird is likely holding out for a casting call for 🍋.
Crazy. Well she’s not a celebrity - many public schools in Toronto have actual celebrities children (children of raptors/nhl players, children of multimillionaire business heirs etc.) I’m sure no one would even recognize 🍋. Other than the people in the group, no one even knows who 🐦 is! :)
So what’s the plan? NanaK home school? I’m honestly so mad.
