UK Politics
General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both [email protected] and [email protected] .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
[email protected] appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(
Starmer does not send weapons to Israel.
Starmer didn't "overthrow" Corbyn. He won a leadership election after Corbyn voluntarily stepped down following a crushing General Election defeat.
I'm sorry, are you upset that Kier is against humanity rights violations?
Again, no he isn't. Please stop lying.
I mean, he is pretty centrist. I dunno what kind of goggles you must be wearing that makes you think he's not.
Except he hasn't. Anybody who looks at Labour and thinks they're the same as the Tories or Reform are crazy. Bloody hell, there's been three nationalisations in the past handful of months, for example. Not exactly very right wing, is it? Nor is stuff like VAT on private schools.
Starmer has nothing to do with the race riots, only a Muppet would believe nonsensical conspiracy theories like that.
Owen Jones is a clown who hasn't stopped crying since Corbyn quit. He should move on and so should you. He isn't coming back.
Owen Jones wasn't actually actually a supporter of Corbyn and was quite public about his criticisms of the possibility of a Corbyn victory (Corbyn's close supporters regard Owen's actions as part of the campaign against him).
While Starmer didn't personally "overthrow" Corbyn, he was part of the internal Labour Party's milieu that sought to work against the Corbyn leadership during the election. The former British diplomat, Craig Murray asserts that Starmer has always been a state asset/agent and was moved into a position where he would be able to take comtrol of a Labour Party that was moving Left and becoming a mass, popular party.
In the beginning he wasn't, but then we was. And I live in the here and now, not in 2017.
Nobody overthrew Corbyn. Corbyn stepped down after Johnson comprehensively beat him.
Jesus. What a wild conspiracy theory. Starmer is a secret agent put in place to make Labour more centrist. 007 Starmer.
In reality, of course, he was an MP who stood for Labour leader and won the party election.
They had a crushing defeat. They weren't popular.
Of course, in your reality there's no state infiltration of organisations. No women made pregnant by undercover agent-provocateur-cops. No 2000 groups in which state agents rose to leadership posts. No knighted lawyers who could be used to ensure that a mass leftwing party toed the line during a period of economic hardship. No organised anti-semetic smearing of a popular left-wing politician...
No, it's a world of everything being how it appears and fairness, honesty and decency. Honest politicians and democratic votes. Oh, to have such a view of politics.
Jesus Christ. You are deep down the conspiracy theory rabbit hole. What's next, 5G controls our brains? Chemtrails? Jewish space lasers?
Ho ho ho. I guess that the mainstream newspapers are also "down the conspiracy rabbit hole" too. Maybe check in with media other than GB News, Talk Radio and Fox.
Me: This thing happened. There are mountains of evidence for it
You: No that thing didn't happen. And if it did Starmer is a little baby who is not responsible for his own actions.
You: I'm going to lie and say this thing happened.
Me: That didn't happen
You: I'm going to continue putting words in this guy's mouth.
Starmer is absolutely at fault for his actions. The small snag with your accusation is that Starmer isn't selling weapons to Israel, nor did he "overthrow" Corbyn, and not did he cause the riots. As they aren't his actions, he should not be held at fault.
So, wait, who is sending these weapons to Israel? Are they just magically being put on the plane or something?
It's like I am arguing with someone in an alternate reality denying everything which has happened and which can very easily be fact-checked with a simple Google search.
We aren't sending weapons to Israel.
