Bush stone curlew. That name not because they're murderous (magpies can also be called murder birds for that reason...), but because at night they give off a scream that makes you think someone's being murdered.

I've never been swooped by a butcher bird myself, so my feelings towards them are much more positive. The have the same beautiful songs as magpies, with less of a murderous reputation IMO.
