monero.town is a server in the 'fediverse'. The software used by this server tries to be the equivalent to reddit. There is an equivalent to Youtube too, called peertube.

It's developed by a French software collective that isn't really into marketing, they seem to prefer slow organic growth.

This year they are doing a lot of work on the Android app 👍

I guess they don't have billions to burn on Super Bowl ads either... I was going to see if I could send them some monero but they don't seem to accept cryptocurrencies
