oh come on, you're an old man, you know kids can be cruel :P
why do i feel like your name is brian? maybe that's just a bit of my childhood peeking through. we had this one friend in my group when we were teenagers that was 28. he was awesome, and he fully embraced the cringe. drove a 90s chevy f150. chopped it, threw a camper on the bed, and painted it krusty cough syrup purple. had a bunch of subwoofers and drove around banging master p and metallica. got a full-color tattoo of Taz. miss that brian.
I have a good friend named Brian, but my name is Tim.
28 seems a little old to be hanging out with teens, but I married a 27y/o when I was 17 so what do I know?
I do like subwoofers.
the 90s were a different time, and he was a friend from church. nothing creepy - he was a mentor, not a creep. he was the guy who told you not to drink all those wine coolers. i did anyways, and i got a horrible stomach ache and spent the night in the fetal position. he was wise.
They truly were.
But, adding that he was from church doesn't do anything to make him seem less creepy in my opinion, lol. And I was raised Baptist, so it's not like I'm just ignorant of church folk - I know Catholics, Pentecostals, Jews, Mormons, Seventh Day Adventists, Jehovah's Witnesses, Snake Handlers, and Atheists.
The whole image of a late-20s guy in a lowered f150 full of subwoofers hanging out with drunk teens just doesn't look great, regardless of denomination, y'know?
But again, maybe my perception is skewed by my own experiences with older people taking advantage of younger people. Maybe there's one good dude and it's your Brian. Maybe he just had the mentality of a teen. Who knows 🤷♂️
meh. i guess it doesn't really matter what it sounds like on the outside. i mentioned the church in good faith, but that's apparently now a lost thing. it sucks, because he was a great friend and mentor and i don't think kids now will ever get the chance to have that. everyone's a creep and a groomer now.
It doesn't matter at all, my man. Perception is subjective, and based on experience. I happen to have had bad experiences, so my perception tends to be negative.
I know for a fact that I've been creepy before and probably will be again, but the truth is that I'm just blindly flailing about and trying to grab any bit of acceptance that I can grasp. Sometimes that means hanging out with kids who admire you. Sometimes it means latching on to people who couldn't give less of a shit about you. Sometimes it means nothing at all, because at the end of the day that's what we all are - nothing. So who am I to downtalk your buddy?
Anyways, I'm sorry for shitting on your mentor; I was just making semi-humorous observational remarks. Also I don't have a lot of love in my heart right now. Kinda jealous of suicidal people, and ignorant people, and people with Down syndrome.
i didn't take any offense, i was just making an old-man-shakes-fist-at-cloud complaint into the void.
your last sentence really hit home. it would probably feel great to give in, shove a pencil in my nose, and proudly don a red hat.
You'd probably like my buddy Jerry
Edit: just to clarify, Jerry does not have Down syndrome.
you sure?
Not entirely, no. Pretty sure he just spent too many years doing tech service and listening to Pink Floyd and Weird Al.
mom always said it would stick that way if i kept listening to pink floyd and weird al..
My mom always said "You just wait until your father gets home."
and i replied, 'mother do you think they'll put me in the firing line?'
And she'd say back, "Don't wanna argue, I don't wanna debate; don't wanna hear about what kinda food you hate. You won't get no dessert 'til you clean off your plate, so eat it."
and i'd say, 'daddy, what'd you leave behind for me?'
And he'd say, "My bologna"
but i want my pudding!
LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER AND CLEAN YOUR PLATE - YOU CAN'T HAVE ANY PUDDING UNTIL YOU FINISH YOUR MEAT. I'VE BEEN SPENDING MOST MY LIFE LIVING IN AN AMISH PARADISE, AND NOW I'M RUNNING THE JUNGLE CRUISE RIDE TO SUPPORT AN INGRATE! EVERYTHING YOU KNOW IS WRONG. I HATE LIVING IN ALBUQUERQUE. I SHOULD'VE BEEN SOMETHING - LIKE A SURGEON.
i.. i just.. you win, okay? lmao
lmao, ok 😆
You know what this victory is, though.
Just another brick in the wall.
stop it! he's already dead!
