In the US they run over protesters. Just sayin.

Based on some of the other comments you're making, yes more than one country can be bad. And the crazy part is it doesn't justify either country, both are still bad

Is there a forty year old truncated clip of a protestor not being harmed in America that you endlessly reposted, including every time America is mentioned? Or do you just do that with China?

Liberals always tell me to support the lesser evil when it's election time, but when I apply that logic to geopolitics they get mad lol

[-] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago

When it comes to voting you are presented with a choice. You can abstain, but you will have to live with the result. You lose nothing by making as best of a choice as you can. To date I've not once been presented with the option to move to a new country, but if either were better I would chose the best option for myself even if neither is ideal.

Both can still be bad options, but I find it hard to believe that neither is better than the other.

Functionality when it comes to geopolitics I get absolutely no choice on it, so there's not really a point in ranking evil unless I get the opportunity to chose. Then I absolutely will rank evils to find the best place for myself

By your logic, there's not really a point in declaring evil. You might as well have no opinion about any of this.

Why even learn about geopolitics or other countries in the first place? You get "absolutely no choice on it" after all.

You might as well say nothing at all.

I see no point in ranking evil, however my country does interact on a global stage and theoretically that is guided by our representatives that the people chose. It's good to stay informed and know which countries regularly abuse human rights. It's a long list.

Ideally I will be able to vote for a canidate that does not want to funnel money to Israel, they are perpetuating a genocide after all. If one is not available I'll go down a long list of issues to determine the best choice.

And I try to choose representatives that will keep their hands off China.

One more commonality between China and the US.

Tank man didn't get run over.

Do people not know this?

[-] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago

No, it just caused a giant massacre when they didn't run him over. Much better.

[-] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

How does that make sense?

They didn't run this guy over as they were leaving the square well after the events of that night had ended. I don't believe there's any proven record of tanks killing anyone at all (specifically tanks, I'm not denying that there was bloodshed).

[-] bdonvr 1 points 2 months ago

I've seen a few photos of bodies that looked run over. But nothing that rises to that insane claim that sometimes floats around that they mushed a crowed and washed them down the drain.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

What?

What exactly do you think happened?

[-] [email protected] 0 points 2 months ago

No, Not Tank man. But Feng Zhang for example.

Based on the fact that he got medical attention and based on the tanks explicitly not running over Tank Man, I'm inclined to think this was an accident.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

He got medical attention not from the military, but because other protesters rushed him to a hospital.

[-] [email protected] -1 points 2 months ago

The military allowed those other protesters to rush him to a hospital and allowed the hospital to treat him. Why didn't the military stop them?

[-] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

Queer, we've met a couple of times on this platform. We both know you would not extend the same benefit of the doubt to, say, the forces perpetrating the 1968 Orangeburg massacre. They too allowed people to be treated by hospitals. They too allowed protesters to be rushed to safety after being shot. Hell, they even took them there themselves.

So why would we do that to the military?

[-] [email protected] -2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

There's a vast difference between someone getting run over and someone being shot. Being run over can actually be an accident. Opening fire is never an accident.

Also, people get gunned down by the US government all the time. It's extremely common. China doesn't resort to that kind of violence nearly as often.
