Fediverse equivalent of fable? (lemm.ee)

Its like a book/tvshow club app where you can make groups to read books together and discuss them, see what others are reading, etc. would be cool for an app like that to encompass comics, manga, etc. as well. Seems perfect for the fediverse and they have some annoying monetization starting to show signs of ruining their app. (Fable Plus)

I like the idea, threads are solid for new shows but rough for discussing older media, the whole online club gets you on the same page reading and discussing the same things.

Ik bookwyrm already exists but thats a tracker and this app seems to fulfil a different niche.

Hm, didn't know of NeoDB. That's a nice find, I've been looking for a way to list my collection online, that I could in theory self-host.

It's pretty cool in that it allows cataloguing more media types than just books, so that's a leg up over Bookwyrm. IIRC it also pulls item information from relevant (open API) databases, so you get the synopsis etc filled in?

For me starting a new account that also made it kind of overwhelming. I've never catalogued my books anywhere, so the possibility of doing that, and input watched film, TV shows, etc — suddenly my media habits turned into a bit of a chore 🙂

Looks like it. I added a movie to a collection and it pulled in data from TMDB.

Well, you can use/link a mastodon account if you already have one. Not sure if it supports lemmy accounts.

Yeah, that's what I did. I meant the feature set gave me more possibilities than I could handle 😄
