I don't know why we would ever want to bring redditors here. I think redditors should leave when they have had enough of reddits bullshit, and if they like the 'verse, settle in. Redditors who are convinced to come will tryta recreate reddit vibe that i deliberately left. Too many breathless debatelord milksops, they can stay in their reddit slophole

yes, that's why I left Reddit, why would I want this place to become like Reddit again?

Guys cmon, look at this whole thread and have some self-awareness.

We've all got aspects of reddits worse qualities in our niche topics of interest, and the tribalism here isn't that much of an upgrade from the reddit hive mind.

We have no right or authority to gatekeep people joining, all we can do is give them the option and shove them from instance to instance until they finally settle on an echo chamber suittable to our/their weird tastes.

That exist in any social media, the issue with Reddit is the bots and the corporations changing narratives and antagonizing human interactions.

Yep. I'm fine with standard soc-med drama but i draw the line at literal anti-social behavior such as bots and corps.
Fuck. That.

I hated the AI ragebait that infested some subreddits. Most of the front page posts on AITA were AI posts after a certain point. You could tell for a few weeks since they all used an en dash — in the post. It’s not something most regular people would use, as a regular dash - is what most people do online.

I don’t miss the bots, the corps, the ragebait, and the bad actors. I’m thankful to have Lemmy.

Sure, but we want more users as well. Redditors are likely to be fans of this format.

Well let's agree to disagree. I'm not against the site growing organically, i am against growing the site. But that's me, fine if that's not you

[-] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

Sure. I also would prefer organic growth, but I think an exodus would be more likely.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

Do you think there's another exodus like the 3rd party app fiasco in the works? I haven't been there since then, you got the skinny?

They've been censoring stuff about Luigi, and some other stuff like protests happening.

They also started banning people for upvoting content which broke their rules.

They're not just suckering for ego. Don't get me wrong, they're not skipping that...

...That just sounds like their Alliance unite all the virtual balls under one rule so that everybody can be interfered with or ignored equally.

Tell me you know who that is.

Pulling that ladder up aye.
