Yeah, it's also just a moralistic "temptation" view of how and why humans do "bad things" and leaves out the surrounding conditions and influences. Like the same sort of view that has Luke Skywalker in Star Wars throwing away his lightsaber because he figures letting himself get cut down by the big bads of the galaxy would be a better fate than risking "falling to the dark side." It's also the same sort of view that would have us condemning liberation fighters for "using violence" because "you'll become like your oppressor if you do." It leaves out the fact that the most oppressive systems have been developed out of particular conditions and beliefs, not simply because some people were tempted into "sin" by having power over others.
