Yeah, it's also just a moralistic "temptation" view of how and why humans do "bad things" and leaves out the surrounding conditions and influences. Like the same sort of view that has Luke Skywalker in Star Wars throwing away his lightsaber because he figures letting himself get cut down by the big bads of the galaxy would be a better fate than risking "falling to the dark side." It's also the same sort of view that would have us condemning liberation fighters for "using violence" because "you'll become like your oppressor if you do."
