I don’t care for Lord of the Rings. I said it. I’m a pariah with a capital P.πŸ˜”

Same. Also game of thrones can bugger off.

Edit: Pretty much the "ye olde" genre in general. Bring on the Sci-Fi!!!!

How dare you even utter GoT in the same post as LotR 😭 you keep that lame ass show out of your comments; GoT SUCKS

The books are great. I never did watch the show, but everything I have been told leads me to be grateful for that fact.

The GoT books are great! At least they have fleshed out women characters (something LotR books lack), but comparing the GoT show to LotR movies is like comparing a steaming pile of dung to golden apples πŸ˜‚

I can't think of a single woman in Norse myth, other than maybe Grendel's mum.

Freya. The Norns. But I guess goddesses don't exactly count as people. No matter how badly they behave. Have you read Sagaland by Richard Fidler? It's a collab between him and Kari Gislason about the people behind norse myths/stories - can be a challenging read but revelatory.

Freya I know, she is where we have Friday from. The Norns, I have forgotted if I ever knew.

The three ladies that spin the thread of life, weave the thread etc. and the third one cuts it. Much like the three Fates of greek mythology. Seriously scary ladies.

That's okay! Because the Lord of the Rings cares about you!
