That would be toroidal geometry, and it opens up the question of other geometries, such as the Klein bottle.
Toroidal geometry? I'm not sure, but let me know if I'm wrong.
I was thinking more like being able to indefinitely pan around in 2D planar geometry. The top and bottom edges would be equally associated as well.
I'm not quite sure if we're on the same page, but I have to admit, if you put Minesweeper on a torus, I'd give it a try, but only on LSD or something.. π
If you take a rectangle and identify (glue together) the left and right edge as well as the top and bottom edge, which seems to be what youβre suggesting, you get a torus.
