There’s a greater discussion about the ethics of war that isn’t the point behind this post.

Not war, just imperialism; this doesn't apply to everyone.

There's a huge difference between a Vietnamese/Palestinian/Korean giving his life to protect his community from the guys trying to exterminate them and an American getting got trying to subjugate those people. If the American understood the situation beforehand and the way he'd been tricked, he probably wouldn't have let himself be be used like that.
