I think what they're saying is that it would be funny, if the context wasn't so infuriating
Yup, in particular just the straight faced people having to say it over and over, it reminds me of Boaty McBoatface. It's so absurd, but I might just be losing my mind. I'm the type to crack jokes at a funeral, though- I think it's a coping mechanism.
That's a pretty fucked up thing to say to someone who agrees with you on facism. For someone often posting on humor communities, I'd expect better from you.
In the same way the "genocide joe" and "Democrats betrayed the working class" people weren't wrong but early November last year was very much not the right time to point it out, you aren't wrong but now is not a good time to trivialize it with humor.
Besides, you yourself called it an "unpopular opinion" and a "guilty thought," so you shouldn't really be surprised at somebody venting their frustrations at you for voicing it.
Fair. But the nicknames aren't funny or even catchy (but things like JD couch fucking was). Anyway, I didn't want to start any fights, and I feel less guilty now that I said it out loud. I think it's because I disagree that humor trivializes a serious topic, whatever that humor is. If anything, it keeps us from disengaging with this whole fucking shit show we're dealing with. The real danger is people tuning out.
