No... And that's not where I was going, gender has nothing to do with this. I know many women who are great at cyber security and other it related aspects. Much better then some of the men I know. It's a learned skill, not a gener based trait.
I can’t think of any woman I’ve met in my career in IT that wasn’t significantly better than the average man. Mainly because the average man in this field is really fucking dumb.
This has been my experience too. I have noticed the women I have trained learned faster, paid attention and did the work to the letter. The guys on the other hand, I would have to babysit and keep checking up on them.
What annoys me is the pay discrepancy too, I always make sure to speak up to management if I have a female on the team that I feel is being underpaid and I encourage them to ask for a decent raise when it is merited. It is a small act but equal responsibility deserves equal pay. Be the change and all that.
It's because they have to try 10x as hard to be taken seriously by most others.
