I was at a dinner recently with an adult cousin of mine who is autistic. He said the r-slur which shocked me as he didn’t really come across as a guy like that. Ive known him for many years and could barely believe what I had just heard. I asked why he said that word and he replied “Its okay, Im autistic, I can say it”. I am autistic too and don’t use that language, but what do you think hexbear?

Happens a lot sadly it's a defence mechanism to fit in. "Can't call me an slur if I called myself it first."

I know because growing up in the early 2000s I tended to do this as a survival tactic myself.
