So let’s skip over the double-talk and rhetoric and break this down a bit.
You say it was never the objective to have protest effect anything electoral, yet at the heart of a boycott/refusal-based protest- THAT is what the expected result. The message is sent via consequences of not listening to the protest “warning.” You don’t protest with the holes of having no effect on something. Admit it: You all threatened America that we’d get trump if we didn’t listen to you.
Saying we didn’t expect to effect anything on an electoral standpoint- is the equivalent of saying, ”we are boycotting Best Buy by not shopping there, but we don’t expect to hurt their profit margin at all!”
You either successfully protested the election by wasting it on a third party/staying home- thus allowing trump to win, or you failed at protesting the election by wasting it on a third party/staying home- thus allowing trump to win.
It cannot be both or neither. And no matter the answer- your little protest voting fucked everyone. You all helped get trump elected. Period. There is no argument to be made here.
So with the smoke cleared, and the blame properly placed, our only consolation is watching you all perform your awkward mental gymnastics in an hopeless effort to not be held responsible.
Lastly…
And by still denying responsibility, you are actively saying that you lack the humility and self-awareness it takes to admit you made a mistake, and as a result, are now free and clear to protest everyone’s rights away next election because you'll find a new single issue as an excuse to lazily stay home and bitch at people on the internet. All because you have a rock-solid excuse to absolve you of any responsibility for your unwillingness to do the bare minimum.
If you didn’t vote- this was YOUR fault. Democrats voted. They did their job. Even conservatives voted and did their job. If you didn’t-
Trump is YOUR fault.
