What is this place? A safe space for underrepresented peoples and peoples of color to talk, chill, and vibe.
What are the basic rules of the community?

This community is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This is a safe space where such people can freely discuss their struggles, insight, and thoughts without fear. If you are not, we respectfully ask you do not post or comment here. A future community will be established to allow for racial discussions with a mixed userbase. However, remember, comments here must still respect Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines.

No sectarianism: This is an identity channel not a channel for you all to complain about why XYZ isn't the "one true leftism". Take that to another place.

Stupidpol is not allowed. Stupidpol is class reductionist. We are an identity community. Thinking like stupidpol ignores the struggles of the oppressed, their voices, and their need for unique support. Nothing says oppression more than someone saying that the identity you have is "not real" and that if you only thought like them you'd see what your "real" identity is. Mods reserve the right to ban users and content who promote stupidpol, stupidpol memes, and other class reductionist thinking.

This place is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This includes those of mixed heritage and those who may be "white" but are of an ethnicity that is a minority in their area (i.e. Kurds, etc) If you've experienced oppression due to your identity that is not based on sexual / gender identification, you are welcome here.

Moreover, for our American audience, we have people from around the world who are "white" but are oppressed due to being a minority in their country. They are and should be welcomed here.

from what ive heard, americans are already sexually harrassing users on that chinese app (whose main local user base are mostly libs anyhow)
Yeah, I've already seen it on a few posts... fucking sad, but not surprising.
the mild annoyance i get from seeing americans treating random chinese people on a social media app as if they were literal aliens from another world supersedes any transient satisfaction from seeing americans get "deprogrammed"
edit: i hope xhs gets banned in the US too. this whole spectacle has been embarrassing for so many reasons that i cant even fit in this post and some people i know already want most americans off the site. this "honeymoon period" isnt gonna last long. liberal chinese appease the feelings of white people and suddenly everyone in this site are talking like "no war but class war! american workers and chinese workers are the same! :)". no consistency or critical thinking at all. just memes and vibes

Yeah I see what you mean. It would mean much more if shit wasn't the usual performative fad that trends for like a couple of weeks.... Then it goes back to the usual bullshit. No bridging between peoples, no mutual understanding. Just the usual caricatures used in place of nuance understanding of people because people are mental midgets. Not to mention the thing seems one sided. The chinese users are the ones trying to be friendly and accomodating but the Western users seem rude and inappropriate exactly as you said and even this will not be enough. I've avoided that sort of content like the plague. Its already cringe enough that all of these people call themselves "Tiktok refugees" whilr living in a country that has had a hand in creating situations that lead to people around the world becoming refugees. And that not even getting into the fact that most wouldn't even care about those refugees or bother to look into why they've become refugees.
