Introductions
Howdy! This is a comm for new and old users alike to introduce themselves and what their hobbies/interests are. This is also a good place to ask questions on anything you'd like to know more about, and generally to get acquainted with Hexbear and its users.
Rule #1: DON'T DOX YOURSELF - Don't post/comment any personal identifying information. Obviously it's ok to talk about yourself, but make sure there is no information that could potentially lead to doxxing yourself.
Rule #2: BE NICE - Assume everyone making a post here is doing so in good faith. Keep in mind that people introducing themselves may have limited knowledge of site history, in-jokes, etc. Also keep in mind that new people might not have the same understanding of leftist theory and/or knowledge of global politics that you do. We were all there once, so it's not a bad thing to be reasonably understanding and patient with new folks. Likewise, for those who are introducing yourselves, please have an open mind, be willing to interact and make friends, and don't come here with the intent to start fights.
Rule #3: DON'T BE A JERK - Any sort of transphobia, racism, homophobia, ableism, or other forms of bigotry will lead to an immediate ban. Similarly, harassment, being a creep, "chaser" behavior, or anything else done to make others feel uncomfortable will be dealt with harshly. Also try to keep any fediverse drama to a minimum. It's assumed new users are posting here to make friends and not to wade into any previous or existing conflict between instances, so please be respectful of that.
Rule #4: TRY TO BE HELPFUL - It's encouraged to help newcomers wherever possible, including explaining various aspects of this community, providing helpful resources, sharing similar interests you may have, and suggesting comms that they may be interested in.
Rule #5: USE CONTENT WARNINGS - For anything that might be considered a sensitive topic, please use the spoiler format along with a content warning to give people a heads up on what is being discussed.
If anyone has any feedback or any suggestions for improvement to this comm, don't hesitate to reach out to the mods here. Thanks!

Welcome, glad you could join us
You might be interested in checking out the [email protected] comm. It skews pretty strongly towards autism but it's intended for all forms of neurodivergence, including ADHD. Self-diagnosis is respected there too.
i was diagnosed with "temporary hyperactivity" as a kid. it just means adhd because diagnosis of neurodiverse stuff was weak at the time in romania. that didn't go away lol. it never will. also no medicine for adhd in my country either :( but i still function kinda fine :)
it's highly likely i have audhd, who knows. thank you for the kind words by the way
I'm going to claim the self-appointed title of resident effortposter for that comm. (There are other really good effortposters in there too - they are welcome to appoint themselves to this title too.)
I've been threatening for a long time to do an effortpost on the different medications that can be used for ADHD, including a lot of less commonly prescribed ones that are off the beaten track. I really should get onto doing that. Even if the typical stimulants aren't available I'd be utterly shocked if there were zero meds available that can treat ADHD, so there is very likely some opportunities to consider even if Romania is strict about it.
Idk the lay of the land where you are but Eastern European countries often have access to Russian medications that are basically nonexistent in the west too, like phenylpiracetam, so you might have some options in this regard (although I'm out of my depth there).
That's assuming that you actually want to explore options for ADHD meds.
At the risk of self-promotion, I wrote this effortpost about how auDHD feels for me internally because there's very little out there on what it's like having both, especially since the ways that autistic and ADHD traits interact and either compensate or aggravate each other makes it feel kinda like you're in a no-man's-land between autism and ADHD. I know for me, whenever I'm around ADHDers I walk away thinking "Goddamn, I'm so autistic" and when I'm around autistic people I walk away thinking "Goddamn, I'm so ADHD" lol. Anyway, you might find that post interesting.
I like to weigh in on medication, mental health, neurodevelopmental disorders (esp. ADHD and autism), and all the stuff surrounding these issues like accessibility, therapy, education, accommodations, burnout and so on. You're welcome to ping me or to tag me in a post/a comment to seek my input, and topics like these usually get something worthwhile out of me.
i actually read that post and found it pretty good! that's why i thought i had audhd in one way or another, or was that another post related to "hey does my relative have adhd or autism? or both? please readfanon person, help with your expertise!" where you actually answered in great detail, i forgot
Haha, well there you go - looks like my reputation precedes me.
That post was on the back of talking in comments here and there about parts of the auDHD experience but knowing that there just wasn't anything decent and fairly comprehensive to point people towards which describes what it feels like.
I have this part of me that gets really frustrated when there's a lack of resources available and, on good days, I just channel that frustration and go "Fuck it, if it doesn't exist but it needs to then I'm just gonna make it myself!" and that's exactly what happened when I wrote that post.
