Anyone know why all lollies are Lifesaver branded these days? Did they acquire another company? Lifesavers used to just be those round hard lollies, now they're everything
I noticed that too. I'm sure Pastilles and Fruit Tingles were Allen's.
I can remember 4 types of Lifesavers growing up. Fruit, pink, peppermint and spearmint in the roll. I only remember them because they were in Christmas stockings and the word Lifesaver was written on them. Now they're all in packets.
fruit tingles were discs
lifesavers were clear hard toroidal candy with many flavours. Orange, lemon, lime and strawberry are the ones i remember
I should clarify. Pastilles and fruit tingles were made by Allen's. Now Darrell Lea make them under the Life Savers banner.
The Life Savers you're talking about were called 5 flavours. They are 1 of 4 rolls of Life Savers I can remember. Musk, Spearmint and Peppermint being the others. They had Lifesaver written on them and were as far as I know the only lollies with the hole in the middle.
Now days you can get bananas and all kinds of lollies under the Life Savers banner.
this is like ancient memories, over 50 years ago
😂
I'm not quite there yet but gee I can remember everything in that Christmas lolly stocking including the Groucho Marx glasses.
Life Savers is owned by Mars Inc, and is produced by Wrigley's (in the US), Nestle (Canada), and Darrell Lea (Aus).
I imagine 'life savers' has branched out to other kinds of candies, y know, for the profits
Edit: here's an infographic that shows who owns what lol it's fucked
If you click or tap the image you should be able to zoom in
It's even worse if you expand it beyond confectionary. Good chance Mars makes your dog food.
Under Nestle there's Fancy Feast and Purina. The infographic has quite a few non-food items. But yeah I haven't spotted dog food, and quite a few items are missing
