Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz mocked Donald Trump Thursday for his clumsy garbage truck gimmick.

“This dude’s nearly 80-years-old,” Walz said at a campaign event in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. “He damn near killed himself getting into a garbage truck.”

The crowd laughed at the Democrat’s reference to a Wednesday incident involving the Trump campaign’s attempt at retribution over President Joe Biden’s garbage gaffe that inflamed MAGA supporters. The GOP nominee donned an orange safety vest and planned a ride in a Trump-branded garbage truck.

It can also fire up your base.

Maybe. But it's asymmetrical at best.

What idiot decided the democrats needed to pull their punches while trump and the republicans get to call america garbage?

No one. Look how fired up you are after Trump's comment. This is my point. It was a dumb mistake for his campaign, just like Biden's is a dumb mistake for Harris' campaign.

Trump is a fascist. Period. Full stop. Anyone who supports him is also a fascist. And fascists are garbage human beings.

Again, you're mixing up your feelings about how true the statement is with whether or not it was a good move for the campaign. These are two entirely separate things.

Besides which, they were already out voting. They can’t vote any harder.

This flies in the face of all conventional wisdom. Campaigns are out canvassing heavily in swing states (I know, I live in one of them, among very politically active people who are doing it), with the intent of making sure people get out to vote. You seem to be viewing Trump supporters as some kind of borg who all do the same exact thing, but it's simply not true. There are people who are lukewarm about this and may or may not vote. You don't want to give them any ammunition to fire up these people to encourage them to vote. That's the whole point.
