This response is really interesting to me. Can you really see no other thing that could have motivated my comment than to anonymously look smart? Do you really believe that assigning blame to those most responsible for causing the problem is a deflection? Who am I protecting by "scapegoating" the relentless pursuit of short term profits by investors for driving the climate crisis as well as driving the main opposition to policy which may allow us to avoid the mass death and suffering that industry is leading us toward?
No, sorry! That's not at all what I intended. It was to cut off the jerks that love to make that comment when they see people refer to the 1%. It's always "yeah buddy you're the global 1% too so..."
