Been on Lemmy over a year, but I still have no idea how to do these emojis and at this point I'm too afraid to ask.

:followed by two characters and wait for suggestions, or press the emoji button (Thank you, but don't think it's working for me. I'm on the Boost app for Android.
it's possible that they haven't implemented it; I'm not sure how many instances actually have custom emojis, so they might just expect users to use an external emoji keyboard
