I find it bizarre that they can't understand that there's no way they can get China to turn on Russia because the US is a threat to China just as much as it is a threat to Russia.
Even more when the US is not willing to give anything.
Yea like the upcoming nuke talks.

at this point it's not even clear what the US can offer realistically

Every year or bargaining position becomes more and more "please stop running circles around us on technology and modernization because if people without Healthcare or public transportation figure out were not better than you our whole system collapses.
Our negotiations at this point are basically begging them to not do anything to pop the bubble while we bloviate privately by talking shit about you.
