I’m drawing landscapes just to learn how to use digital brushes and it’s a bit frustrating. Each one seems to look a tad crappier than the last. (The first wasn’t bad.) But you know, it’s that or sitting for long periods with pencils or standing to paint. Or doing nothing. For some reason I can’t currently focus on books.
I’m using a $10 Big W stylus (Cygnett) and $10 Procreate Pocket on phone. Just can’t seem to do a smooth flowing sketch line like I can with a traditional pencil (my posture and screen size doesn’t help) so I’m fudging a lot with paint and smudge tool. One of the brushes stopped working? The features and layers are also limited so maybe this is intended to take visual notes while out for doing fully later.
It’s not bad to experiment with though if you don’t put pressure on yourself and have some music on in the background.
Really annoying that r/ArtFundamentals went private right when I got interested in trying to learn with exercises.
It might be the combination of stylus and screen size, but have you checked the stabilisation settings? https://procreate.com/handbook/procreate/interface-gestures/accessibility/#:~:text=The%20global%20setting%20for%20stabilization,advanced%20version%20called%20Motion%20Filtering.
Edit. You could also give Infinite Painter a go. It's a very well developed procreate alternative. I use it on Android as procreate is iOS only.
I might look into that, I don’t have a tablet though
Thanks, I’ll look at the settings
