Okay, so if glass is too heavy, then I'm guessing cast iron is right out.
Any pan is going to get that sticky grease. Fats (including oils) polymerize at high heat. That's how people intentionally season cast iron cookware, but you're seeing it where you don't want it. The easiest thing to do is accept that you are getting an extra coating of 'protection'.
