One thing I hate hearing when I tell people I’m Guatemalan is “oh! We go there every year for missionary work!”
They always give me the “you can’t paint people with a broad brush” bullshit when they’re responsible for introducing queer phobia to communities that didn’t have any before they showed up. Fucking hate missionaries.

A lot. There’s a reason I chose to return after living in the US. I like the natural environment and the strong sense of community people have here that doesn’t really seem to be as strong in the US.
The food is also very good and I’ve grown a strong attachment to the local indigenous group. They’re the stereotypical “one with nature” type of indigenous people with their lifestyle heavily based around dance and music.
Thank you for taking the time to reply, sounds like a nice place to live with nice people.
