If the Republicans win this one, you won't have to worry about voting ever again.
Unless the democrats have an actual plan, they can actually get through congress, to unwind the legal framework for fascism that the republicans have built it won't matter in the long run anyway...
Like seriously we're in the end game now, without an actual plan to stop it the next republican president will be our last.
That's the silver lining I guess. Elections are such stressful events that people living under totalitarian regimes just don't have to deal with.
Bullshit. Elections allow to vent out something which otherwise will eat you from inside slowly.
Considering I stressed about Trump every day when he was President, stressing about an Election every couple of years for a few months is much preferred.
The funny thing is that I remember this being said about every candidate since Bill Clinton. Dont worry everything is going to be alright.

I agree things are crumbling, but Trump is a symptom not the cause. Trump is not going to be the end of things, he is just a dude that likes to talk about himself and be important.
I would broadly agree with that, except for the documented attempts to subvert the election. I think that ones pretty uniquely bad
I guess it depends on what subvert the election means. From all that I have known and heard it seems to be the same legal things that all the candidates usually do. And then when I say this someone links some partisan article about how it was worse than when Deathstar destroys Alderan.
You think that January 6 was the kind of "legal thing" that all candidates do?
Trump wasnt there on jan 6th, and many of the people that were imprisoned at worst did trespassing.
Took us out of the Paris Climate agreement
Opened up the national parks for drilling
Removed protections for more than half of our wetlands
Withdrew legal justification for factories to limit mercury emissions
Removed carbon caps on power plants
One hell of a symptom
Thats not the stuff that is going to make the country fall apart. You should be more worried about the election in november and the results of that, and how states are going to slowly (or maybe quickly) start to defy federal rules. Or the other big thing is WW3 that could happen in the near future. Or how people cant afford things very well anymore. The things you listed are arguable good things.
Climate change has already created draughts and food shortages. It has already pushed animals into ecosystems where they don't belong leading to destruction of those ecosystems. Ocean acidification has been killing fish populations.
These have created instability in countries across the world as people grapple with worsening conditions. This has lead to conflicts that have created massive amounts of refugees, which in turn has been creating populist and authoritarian attitudes in the west as we deal with refugees knocking on our door. This has created massive rifts in our societies and ultimately is the connecting factor for the issues we face.
As my old history professor would say about global conflicts- it's the bottom of the 9th, the bases are loaded, and it's always mother nature up to bat.
Then we shouldn't have declared war on, and declared mother nature our enemie. We could have respected her and accepted reasonable limits, rather than growth, expansion and profit at all costs, especially to ourselves. And we can stop doing that.
Oh yeah, we really screwed up the season by not picking Mother Nature in round one of the draft.

Have you noticed that they will claim that everything that is bad is a result of climate change? How do you know they are telling you the truth?

This is the equation; bad things happens with weather = climate change. Rains too much = climate change. Rains too little = climate change. I fully understand the explanation you are about to type, but you need to add a bit of skeptism to what you read.
Your patience and calmness are infinite, and I wish I could follow you on this instance. I too have been conditioned toward alarmism but have been getting over it, and I see your point.
Like they kept telling us inflation was supply chain issues since COVID, but when you do the digging, it's corporate price-gouging, from corporate farm to corporate processors, to corporate distributors, to the corporate chain stores. The only ones ~not~ making huge profits are independent retailers, who may or not have a higher or lower price than a corporation, on any given good on any given day (that doesn't inherently make them good or evil). You're making me think and the conclusions are certainly not ThE oBvIoUs ones. Thank you.
I think you have an issue with where you get your information. From the start I knew and all the sources I listen to knew this was much more than a supply issue things. And I know for a fact this is not an issue with "greedflation". These are the things they tell you so that you dont point your anger toward the real culprit - government policy. Corporate controlled media is just going to tell you the things they want you to beleive, and when what they tell us is proven to be a lie, its so far in the past we forget what they said.
Bear with me, I'm trying to learn how to think again. Firstly, where can I find quality information, and I don't have money, so if it's not freely accessible, I'm not getting it, and if it is, I've no idea where to find it.
Secondly, I'm willing to hear you out while also noting Democrats (big D) are major benefactors of corporate greed (eg Pelosi not wanting insider trading laws, and the stock market probably ought to be illegal, in my limited perspective).

I am a former engineer that now just does construction so I can listen to audiobooks and podcasts all day long. I am not an R or a D but the people I find closest to what makes the most sense is the Ron Paul libertarians. Podcasts are free, and my favorite are;
"Part of the Problem" - This guy was going to be the Libertarian candidate for president but dropped out due to family. He is probably the most active non-politician.
"Liberty Lockdown" - gotten a little conspiracy theoristic as of late, its a guy that will do topics mixed in with some economic breakdown.
"Timcast IRL" - This is more R leaning, but still just talk about the news. This one might push your alarmism button too much.
"The political Orphanage" - this is the least partisan podcast from a semi-comic. He is hit or miss on his shows being entertaining but he has some really educational/entertaining deep dives that I learn about things I never thought about.
Mainly just find some you like and then be skeptical and data driven.
Ron who named his kid after ayn rand Paul? It's been a long time since I heard anything he said, and since Nevuary since I heard him say anything that wasn't wholly selfish. Can you please share some things he said that made sense to you? I may check him out but I'm not promising anything. I've never heard of the others, but I hope they're not just more "I've got mine, fu," types.
I have not heard him say anything I can think of that was bad. And I would need you to give me an example of what he says that is selfish. "Dont go to war" sounds pretty unselfish. "Dont let the fed devalue the currency of the poor in favor of the rich", also doesnt sound selfish.
I may be misremembering. His son was most recently in the news and I haven't read anything about him in quite some time. I'll give it a listen. Thanks again so much.
Thats the problem with the corporate media, they will give you a false impression about people. It seems like everyone that I hear about being the worst ever were actually some of the people with our best interests in mind.
