And we like to pretend a third party could be successful if the other two are sufficiently incompetent/corrupt. In practice, the lawmakers will never implement a process that gives any amount of their power to the people. There was a window of time in the 90's - 00's where we thought the future might hold something other than the cyberpunk dystopia we all see coming. Now I'm reduced to just trying to enjoy the last vestiges of the middle class before it's gone.
