My friend is debating between buying a 2024 Volkswagen R and a 2024 Audi S4. (sh.itjust.works)

I had a 2007 GTI, and it is tied for 1st place for my favorite car I have ever owned. That said, what I've picked up from the interwebs is that VW is not longer making quality vehicles, for a number of reasons. Would love some opinions!

Both are VAG. Both will be fantastic feeling vehicles, with an edge to the Audi for general luxury, but both will also begin an arms race to drain your friend's wallet the fastest once they get past 80,000 miles.
