Hello everyone,

Follow up from a thread I opened a month ago (https://discuss.tchncs.de/post/6090857)

The main issue I see with creating Movie Discussion threads in this community is that there is no way to link them in a megathread, as post links depend on your instance, and there is no way to have a link that would work for everyone (except relying on add-ons such as Instance Helper, but that's not idea). So for people to see them, you either need to have them pinned, cluttering the community, or you need to rely on people on finding them (e.g. adding a shortcut in the sidebar with a precreated search, however I don't know if that would work on mobile clients, and visibility wouldn't probably be the best).

One way to handle this would be to use another community dedicated to movie discussions threads, were only that type of content would be allowed.

There is currently [email protected] that we do not currently use but that could fit that need.

What do you guys think?

Last November we had the opportunity to attend an exclusive twenty-minute screening of ‘Dune: Part II’, the highly anticipated second installment of the monumental adaptation of Frank Herbert’s science fiction classic that Denis Villeneuve is carrying out. Of course, it is early to give an opinion, but we can assure that there are reasons to think that This new installment could be even more stimulating than the first.

...And it's really good. It's only on Netflix, unfortunately, but if you're subscribed and have been after a sci-fi mystery to check out, I highly recommend it.

I've not watched it all yet (only to episode 3), so I'd prefer no spoilers (or keep them in spoiler tags), as so far it's been a delight.

I'd almost dismissed the show based off the sort of banner ads Netflix chose to run for it, until it finally showed some different image that caught my eye and got me to read the description. Turns out it's a kind of murder mystery amidst a society where humans and highly advanced robots are trying to coexist, but the murders are adding more strain to their already fraught relationship.

Btw for spoiler tags, you add them like so:

text to be hidden

Note however that some Lemmy apps don't yet recognize them, e.g. Eternity, so be careful if you're dropping in here to discuss the show and don't want to be spoiled!

What would National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation look like if Clark and his family had to fight a bunch of killer elves? You can get a very, very close approximation in the new movie There’s Something in the Barn. It stars Martin Starr (Freaks and Geeks, Silicon Valley) as a happy-go-lucky father who moves his family to Norway only to find that an actual elf lives in their barn. The elf is cool with the family being there... until they start breaking his rules. Then all hell breaks loose.
