ONLY protests isn't going to change anything I understand the reasons for it and I appreciate the effort and the amount of people coming together to rally against an evil overtaking the nation is inspiring but you all need to understand they came into power ILLEGALLY (admitted by Trump live) with the help of a literal nazi nothing peaceful is going to solve this issue.

I have heard asked over and over, where are the Black people? The simple answer is now is not the time. The country is a powder keg and Project 2025 is real. If you have not read it, brush up on it now. They have given us their playbook. It is being executed to the letter. They are itching to declare Martial Law. There is no better reason than having tens of thousands of “thugs” in the street protesting. There must not even be the slightest appearance of a threat right now. They control the media narrative and black and brown faces this early will make people less inclined to the cause. They won’t hurt granny or Aunt Jennie who are peacefully protesting. The face of this movement must begin with White people, old white people, working white people and rural white people. It must be shown that the policies that were suppose to only hurt “the others” are hurting people that look just like mom, dad, grandma and grandpa. People of color are catching their breath, mobilizing, and boycotting corporations who are backing this regime and the dismantling of years of small gains for Blacks. Black people have fought and prayed to exhaustion in the struggle for equality in this country. Black people are marching with you in spirit, praying for you, and yes waiting to join you in the flesh. This can of worms will only open from the inside. The time will come soon enough when your numbers will swell so that you can’t be ignored; then the calvary will come to shore up your ranks. Every decent human being knows that this fight is bigger than race and that on the other side of it all America can be better for EVERYONE. For now though, we all must strategize and be wise! Marathon and not a sprint…Fight on and bide your time. Keep your intentions true and know that help is on the way. It’s scary if you’ve never had to fight before, we know. You’re doing a fine job though. A mighty fine job! Just keep it up and you shall have help.

Americans have taken to the streets in huge numbers! I feel some hope. MSNBC is not shy about showing the marches, protests at Tesla dealerships, ‘die-ins’, and town meetings filled to capacity. My strongly Red town is having a protest this weekend. I will be there with a sign and a folding chair!

I want to start this message by saying I have a very close friend of mine (also my partner at one point) who’s MTF so this is something that hit’s quite close to home for me.

Perhaps this is redundant of me to say but I think it’s fair to acknowledge that we all know how badly members of the transgender and LGBTQIA+ community as a whole are treated within police custody here in the United States. But I don’t think a lot of people truly realize the extent of the torment people of those groups very often endure when under police custody and in prisons. Transgender people in particular are extremely prone to sexual assault and rape within custody to the point it’s often referred to as “a central part of a trans woman’s sentence”(https://web.archive.org/web/20210427005743/https://www.repository.law.indiana.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1087&context=ijlse). A common practice in prisons known as ‘V-Coding’ is to purposefully house transgender inmates alongside particularly violent inmates and sexual predators so they can be raped almost daily as a way to “pacify them”. A 2021 California study found that 69% of trans women prisoners reported being forced to perform sexual acts against their will, 58.5% reported being violently sexually assaulted, and 88% overall reported being made to take part in a "marriage-like relationship". This also extends to police who often purposely make trans individuals strip down naked and show off their bodies to be essentially whored out to the highest bidder.

The reason I am saying all of this is not to scare transgender people away from partaking in protests. Rather I want to strongly urge other protesters among them to stop trans individuals from being arrested at all costs, because it may genuinely be their lives or very humanity on the line. Also be sure to speak up and protest against these barbaric practices in the process.

Perhaps this post was rather rambling and unorganized but I don’t think I can fully sleep right without doing my part to further awareness towards topics like these. It’s one of the main reasons I set aside my transphobia a long time ago. I just feel obligated to perhaps make people more aware of this as I don’t feel like enough people are protesting about it.
