Most warships we see launch mobile suits "horizontally" (i.e., in the direction the suit would faces when standing).

I'm curious if we've ever seen a mobile suit launch "vertically" (i.e., 'head" or "feet" first)? Obviously this wouldn't work for any earth-bound warships, but for spacegoing ones it'd be fine. In theory, this would allow vulnerable catapult doors to be far smaller launching "face-forward".

Bought this tee last night because I loved Gundam as a kid. Then I read the tag and realized it is celebrating Gundam's 45th anniversary and I feel assaulted.

Just starting this series for the first time, so no spoilers please, I’m still fairly new to the franchise having finished the 3 movie recap of the original series zeta and 08th ms team. As well as a couple other bit things requiem for vengeance and silver phantom. I’ve also been watching GQuuuuuuX.

The first episode of ZZ wasn’t really a thing so I figured I’d just summarize my thoughts starting here.

The only thing that stood out to me so far was this scene with Judah. He pretty much said, “I’m going to steal this Gundam without hurting anyone,” and then dropping kicks LT Bright Noa from four stories up. I just thought that was hilarious.

I also enjoyed the Gundam fight. The Zeta being poorly piloted was refreshing. Seeing it struggle against industrial machines. Instead of the new young pilot just being a prodigy.

That said I probably won’t post my thoughts every episode but it would be nice to discuss the series with anyone here who’d like to chat about it with me.

Hope they heal Kamille soon, I loved him by the end of Zeta.

After the repeated losses at the hands of ZAFT, the Earth Alliance space force tried desperately to reverse ZAFT’s offensive momentum, they decided to launch a deep strike on the PLANT homeland. In April C.E.70, Alliance 5th and 6th fleets launched from Ptolemaeus base on the Moon and headed toward Lagrange Point 5.

On April 17, C.E.70, the incoming Alliance fleets were intercepted by ZAFT forces stationed at Jachin Due resource satellite. The battle that ensued resulted in the defeat of the Earth Alliance's 5th and 6th fleets.

After ZAFT's victory at Jachin Due, the PLANT Supreme Council decided to convert the resource asteroid into a military space fortress.

This is continuation of SDBB 00 Gundam Eight Sword/G from a while back.

I finally took some time out to combine 0 Raiser with it and this is the end result.

With this done, I can move on to my SDCS Gunpla.

Mere days after ZAFT forces successfully landed on Carpentaria, they established the foundation of Carpentaria base and began to reinforce its position. To stop the enemy from gaining a permanent foothold on Earth, Earth Alliance dispatched the Atlantic Federation’s 21st Anti-Submarine Warfare fleet toward Australia. With the aim to stop a ZAFT naval convoy, consisting of supply submarines escorted by Vosgulov class carrier submarines, from reaching Carpentaria.

On the 10th April, the Alliance fleet’s engaged ZAFT’s submarine convoy in the Coral Sea. In the battle, the ASW Fleet deployed many Kingfisher 33SP Anti-Submarine Warfare helicopters, one of which was piloted by Ensign Jane Houston. On ZAFT's side, Marco Morassim sortied in his new GINN FEMWS, alongside GINN Wasp types

During the fighting, the Canageon and Bradford of the ASW Fleet tried to circumvent the Vosgulov-class submarines and the mobile suits to destroy the supply submarine convoy, but they were unsuccessful and were quickly destroyed.

In the end, The battle proved to be a total disaster for the Atlantic Federation; its entire 21st ASW Fleet, including the flagship Cumberland and the carrier Kingsbill, was wiped out along with all the other ships and Kingfisher helicopters, with only one survivor of the battle; the Kingfisher pilot Jane Houston.

Would've been nice to have spent a bit more time with lighting and posing. I feel like there's a lot of cool potential for posing 2 kits together but in practice I have trouble actually making it look good.

Took some posing inspiration from the statue of the man fighting four babies in Vigeland Park. The SD-EX kits are:

  • Gundam Unicorn
  • Gundam Barbatos Rex
  • Gundam Exia
  • Gundam 00

I've just got a new bookcase that's suitable for display of Gunpla, so I thought now's a good time to share my collection.

It's very amateurish work, with heavy usage of stickers. What little painting is done using Gundam markers.

Why are there only SDBB Gunpla, you ask.

I don't have the dexterity to handle HG and RG.

If I've got any MG (including MGSD) or PG, it would be wasted on me. Plus, I have neither the time nor patience to build it carefully.

SDEX is way too shoddy for me.

SDCS looks good actually. I'll be moving on from SDBB to SDCS; just need find the time to build them😭 (I've got Calibarn, Mighty SF and Barbie Rex lined up.)

My favourite: the kitbash of 00 series Gunpla. It's still incomplete; it's missing 00 Raiser parts.

Good news for those of you in markets that might not have access to a selection of anime-focused streamers. Bad news for those of you not wanting to give Amazon any money. I guess the seas are out there calling for you...

From the article:

Amazon Prime Video announced on Friday that it will stream the Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX (pronounced as “g-kwux”) television anime worldwide in over 240 countries. The anime will begin streaming in Japan on April 9 at 1:00 a.m. JST.

Just got back from seeing GQuuuuuuX Beginning and wanted to start a thread for people to share thoughts and feelings. I’m gonna write a proper post tomorrow once I’ve had some time to digest (FYI I loved it). Please use the spoiler formatting for any key plot points to protect our fellow Gundam fans who have to wait until April for the full release. But I thought a discussion post would be fun for this community!

The new PV is here. This is part of the World Expo happening in Osaka this year. Check out the ANN article for additional information. From that article:

The video will be part of a story that users will be immersed into when visiting the Gundam Next Future Pavilion area. The story puts visitors in Maishima in the year 2150. Guided by Haro units, the visitors board a space elevator and begin a 36,000 kilometer journey into the giant space station Star Jaburo, which maintains a geostationary orbit above Earth. There, they observe mobile suits at work to prepare for even deeper expeditions into space, as well as conduct cleanup of space debris.

Today in history: February 22nd, C.E.70

With the destruction of Junius Seven, the First Alliance-PLANT War officially started as the skirmishes in Lagrange Point 5 turned into full-scale war across Earth Sphere. ZAFT demonstrated remarkable force projection capability as they began to undertake offensive actions against the Earth Alliance far away from the PLANT homeland. The first target of ZAFT’s new strategy was the space station Yggdrasil, located in Lagrange Point 1 near Luna, and served as the bridgehead for Luna’s Alliance forces.

On the 22nd, the advancing ZAFT expeditionary force finally engaged Alliance’s 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Fleets that were defending the station, and ZAFT deploy the N-Jammers for the first time in combat. The resulting battle between the two sides was fierce, and after intense fighting, the station was destroyed in the crossfire. Eventually, its ruins become part of the debris belt.

With the destruction of the space station, The Earth Alliance lost a vital bridgehead in space and suffered heavy casualties as the 1st and 2nd fleet were annihilated, with only the 3rd showed up later in Luna engagements. However, it was a pyrrhic victory for ZAFT, as they also suffered heavy losses.

During the battle, Rau Le Creuset managed to destroy 37 Moebius mobile armors and 6 warships.
