I moved to Japan about 16 years ago and my family who is visiting me showed me the new King Charles loonie. When I put it in hand, it felt much thinner than what I remember. Is this because it IS actually thinner or am I just too used to Japanese coins?

The federal government bought the Trans Mountain project, finished building it, and now owns the pipeline.

The case was that access to tidewater would reduce U.S. pricing power and open global markets like Asia. Now that the pipeline exists and Canada owns it, the question is simple.

Does public ownership mean Canadians benefit through toll revenue, better pricing leverage, and higher tax income? Or does it mainly mean the public took the risk while most of the upside still flows elsewhere?

Hi there, Are folding rulers common or are measuring tapes more widely used? And are folding rules even available in hardware stores?

If Canada ran its own top-tier league, focused on Canadian cities, rivalries, and development, would the sport be healthier and better at the highest level?

There was a time, not even 25 years ago, when getting paid didn’t require a bank account.

You could be paid by cheque. You could walk into the issuing bank, show ID, and cash it. No account. No monthly fees. No minimum balance.

Banks also used to accept Canadian currency without conditions. Today, try walking into a bank with a roll of quarters and no account and see how far you get.

Getting paid now effectively requires a bank account. And once you have one, fees stack up quietly. Account fees, overdraft fees, NSF fees.

Banks post record profits year after year, and this feels less like a service and more like a toll on earning income.

It’s not illegal. But it feels like an extra cost that doesn’t need to exist.

I get the intent behind hiding tobacco products, especially for kids. But as an adult, walking into a store with no menu, no prices, and no visible options feels unnecessarily awkward.

You’re expected to already know exactly what you want. If you’re trying to switch to a lower nicotine or tar option, you don’t really have a way to compare or even know what’s available anymore.

As an adult, should you actually have the right to see what legal products are available before buying them?

Feels like something people used to talk about more. Some get cash, some get gift cards, some get nothing at all.

Are bonuses still common where you work, or is it gone now?

A recent news report says Canada’s defence planners are working on how the country could rapidly expand its forces in a national emergency.

The planning includes non traditional roles and mentions older Canadians and people who might not meet full combat fitness standards.

If the country asked for volunteers under this kind of plan, would you step forward?

Why or why not?

I saw a new MeidasCanada video with Charlie Angus sitting inside Molly’s Reach and it actually surprised me that the place is still around. I always assumed it had disappeared like most old Canadian TV landmarks.

If you watched the video, what did you think of seeing that place still operating in 2025? How many still people remember the Beachcombers?

When you tell your doctor about drinking, smoking, exercise or your diet, how much of that stays in your medical record in Canada? Can those notes ever affect the care you get in the future?

I’m wondering how much honesty actually matters here and whether lifestyle notes quietly shape decisions later on.
