I use nginx proxy manager for a reverse proxy and SSL cert automation. Works great for me but I would like to get into traefik sometime.

I got tired of the NPM and went to traefik for 2 reasons.

  1. NPM kept locking me out of my account (admin), like 4 times during the time I was using it. That meant that it was not reliable enough for daily use.

  2. From what I heard is that the NPM project only has 1 developer and so they can't really respond and fix security flaws in a proper timeframe.

I'm using traefik now for internal traffic while VPN in if I need internal services while out and about.

Jim's Garage has a great YouTube video on setting it up.

The web browser doesn't care if the application is behind one, two or three rproxies. If I can still get to your application and guess your password or exploit a known vulnerability in your application then it's game over.

Right!?

Your castle can have many walls of protection but if you leave the doors/ports open, people/traffic just passes through.

I run windows 10 in a docker container on Linux and RDP in from any computer. More lightweight than a full fledge VM. It comes with file system passthrough as a network folder.

I just stop the container when I'm done and return to my Linux desktop session.

I see the mentioning of Navidrome everywhere, but the reality is that if your music collection has the slightest issue with the id tags (and who doesn't), Navidrome will fuck you up big time.

I am still a fan of OG Airsonic, (not Airsonic - Advanced) which is folder based. Works all the time.

Spin up a Windows VM in Linux for those apps.

Or at least dual boot if you are into Linux.

Or at a minimum put Linux on another device with older hardware...

;(

...or extracting the decryption key from RAM.

Moral of the story:

Always shutdown the computer when you are not using it, kids.

Yeah, the input thread priority sounds cool and it would be nice on KDE as well, but if you have a faster computer than a potato, I'll guess you won't be needing that kind of "optimization".
