I'm a developer and don't hate it on its face.

IMO it's only a problem in the context of iOS not having side-loading. I'm imagining an app that uses an API to block ads and Apple just being like "no" and then you can't get that app.

Counterpoint: If I was one of the people in charge of keeping it secret and Trump got elected... I would just "forget" to ever schedule that briefing.

Non-competes aren't enforceable in California.

The thing is that this can happen even without active malice.

If the product owners or engineers decide "hey, we want to add this cool feature, but it's not supported by activity pub" the path of least resistance -- bypassing the long process of changing the activity pub spec and getting everyone else on board -- can be super tempting, and come from a place of wanting to make your product better.

Those ostensibly good intentions can lead to E/E/E without actively meaning to.

Sometimes it does feel like my diet must consist mostly of gas giants.

Unless I'm misreading the article, right now this seems to just be regrowth for a very specific medical condition where teeth didn't come in in the first place?

The article mentions the possibility of stimulating growth in a latent third set of buds all adults have. But that doesn't seem to be what this specific breakthrough is.

The thing is that the court only has so much power right now because Congress is so fucking broken. If Congress where in working order it could just legislate all the shit that the court is blocking the executive on.

It depends on whether you consider the conditions under which the original cells were donated as part of the product.

Not that this isn't scummy but my understanding is that "ransomware" refers to software that locks a user or organization out of their systems until a fee is paid, generally my encrypting the disk.

This seems like a more traditional "hack" of a system where you get in and download data. Which makes threatening them is traditional blackmail.

Yup. It's easy to be cynical about the current state of video games, but Bethesda seems to still be made up of people who are genuinely excited about what they are building, all the way up to management.

It's not a perfect indicator for success, but I think it's a pretty damned good one.

For sure. Like I said, it's totally my bias showing. Maybe it's seeing too many congressmen fundamentally misunderstand the tech. I've also run into a lot of older programmers that are highly technical, but still kind of out-of-touch when it comes to the Internet culture that sits on top of the technical layer.

That's kind of an oversimplification. The de-federated because they only have four mods and didn't have the ability to effectively moderate all the users from large instances with no vetting process.
