Thanks for crossposting here! This is a difficult decision. The only open blade I've ever used was a $2 thing that holds a half-DE blade. Obviously this would be much more fun and easy to use...

- Brush: Maggard 24mm Tuxedo Synthetic
- Razor: Chiseled Face - Legacy Raw Titanium (#69)
- Blade: Bolzano Superinox (Egypt) (5)
- Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - Margaritas in the Arctic - Soap
- Post Shave: Chatillon Lux - Weinstrasse - Aftershave
- Post Shave: Nivea Sensitive Balm
- Fragrance: Stirling Soap Co. - Varen - EdT
I finally found the courage to use MITA, which was included as the free sample in my last Stirling order. I'm not a fan of menthol, and this one smelled strongly of menthol, but the shave itself was easily bearable. The underlying scent (Margaritas?) is pretty nice! Fun, maybe a bit sweet. I prefer my real margaritas on the dry side, which is hard to find (granted I don't look very hard), but the aroma of a sweet margarita is still appetizing.
For post shave stuff I switched to Fougere Friday. I should really move this Weinis aftershave, because I get a lot of frag burn from it more often than not.
That's good. The article talks about how K9's should be handled with the legalization of weed. Should they be retired if they still respond to weed, etc.
Of course K9's aren't trained to actually smell anything. They're just trained to respond to an officers command, giving police the freedom to search any vehicle they please.
I don't know which country you're in, but here's a good source. https://maggardrazors.com/collections/blades/products/build-your-own-sampler-10-packs
You just get a bit of a discount by getting a bunch at the same time. This link is for 10 packs, but they also have an option for 7.
Feather always gets recommended, but there are a lot of people who don't really like them (myself included). Don't box yourself in with blades. Get a sample pack and try a bunch.
Another aggressive razor I forgot about is the Muhle R41. I've never tried one, but it has a lot of fans.
First I have to ask how many different blades you've tried. The blades are what cut the whiskers, and they do vary in sharpness. Different bezels on the blades make a difference, too. One blade might feel sharp to one person and dull to another just based on what's going on with all the angles.
The Edwin Jagger is a medium razor so most people wouldn't have trouble with it clogging, etc. I would say anything more aggressive than that comes down to personal preference, and not efficacy. But, that's just me, and obviously you aren't most people.
So, if blades have already been explored or you don't care and just want something more aggressive, I can recommend the following:
- Merkur Futur
- Vintage Gillette adjustable like the Slim Adjustable, Fat Boy, or Super Adjustable. On the higher settings they're quite aggressive.
- Vintage GEM Micromatic Open Comb (MMOC). A single edge razor which limits blade choices. Most agree the best blade is Personna GEM PTFE.
- Chiseled Face Legacy. More expensive but built really well and made of solid machines metal. It doesn't feel aggressive, but it has a really large blade gap and is very efficient. Some people say riding the cap is the best way to go, but there's a wide range of angles that work.
- RazoRock Game Changer .84. More affordable than the Chiseled Face because it's mass produced, but still solid metal.
The list goes on, but that's a good start. Good luck!

- Razor: Chiseled Face - Legacy Raw Titanium (#69)
- Blade: Bolzano Superinox (Egypt) (4)
- Lather: Barrister & Mann - Diamond - Soap
- Post Shave: Spearhead - Seaforth! Heather - Toner
- Post Shave: allMan - Refined - Balm
Was scooping a smush out of this tub for someone on Discord, so being within reach made it the obvious choice to use today. Soft Heart is probably my least favorite B&M base, but I still love it. It's just a little too poofy for my refined taste. Very slick, though.
Black Olives (or green, either way).
Oh of course! I thought it went without saying.
I'd hate for there to be any interference to the pristine audio quality of AM radio.

- Brush: Maggard 24mm Tuxedo Synthetic
- Razor: Blackland Era - Level 3 SB
- Blade: Lord Platinum (4)
- Lather: MacDuff's Soap Company - Old Strathcona - Soap
- Post Shave: Noble Otter - The Night Before - Aftershave
- Post Shave: allMan - Refined - Balm
- Fragrance: Barrister & Mann - Lavender, Interrupted - EdP
I've only ever heard good things about the MacDuff's soap base, and it indeed has a lot of great qualities. I half expected to see Xanthan Gum in the ingredients, but it's just your typical butters, oils, and yogurts, and milks.
Ingredients
Stearic Acid, Tallow, Glycerine, Castor Oil, Kokum Butter, Shea Butter*, Cocoa Butter, Camellia Seed Oil*, Mango Butter, Aloe, Goat Milk, Hydrolyzed Oat Protein, Sodium Lactate, Argan Oil*, Jojoba Oil*, Pumpkin Seed Oil*, Tremella Seed Extract, Silk Peptides, Green Tea Extract, Tetrasodium EDTA, Yogurt, Parfum
This shave felt a little rough, but I can't blame the soap. The slickness was excellent, so I'll blame the blade. I don't have much experience with Lord Platinum, but 4 shaves might be past the limit. Closeness and comfort were not on par with the past few days.
Luckily I have a lot of the sample left thanks to the generous portion from @[email protected] , so I'll be able to try again with a better blade.
The scent is a good one. Like @[email protected] I get an initial hit of anise, despite there being no anise in the marketing materials. I really enjoy the smell of anise, so bring it on.
I never really got into the barbershop genre, but the description talks about how it's based on a fougere, just without the lavender. I can definitely get behind a lavender-free fougere. Similar to how Shawn Maher replaced oakmoss with sage in Seaforth! Heather, MacDuff(is that the guys real name?) replaced lavender with rosewood. I'm sure there are other "variations" of a fougere out there, but these are the only ones I've noticed. I can't say I'm good enough to pick out rosewood, but I at this point in my shaving journey, lavender has been a bit overused and I appreciate the absence.
I also like the fact he uses real tree moss (oakmoss) according to the ad copy. I have no idea if I've used anything with real oakmoss before. I used to get frag burn a lot, so if anyone is going to be sensitive to oakmoss it's probably me, but I had no problem at all.
No, you're right. I do believe they're trained to detect things, and thought about editing it, but I stuck with the poor wording.
